Harmony

Harmony™, the new innovative system from Advanced Bionics has been available to the NHS since 1st April 2007.

In conjunction with the new HiRes 120 speech processing strategy, the paediatric and adult friendly behind-the-ear sound processor has been undergoing clinical trials in the UK and Europe. We are pleased to announce that the first results are proving to be very pleasing. The benefits expected from the Harmony are:

  • Enhanced sound and music perception provided by the new front-end and HiRes 120
  • Improved power management offered by the new platform (a full day usage with a single PowerCel) and second generation PowerPak
  • Improved access to battery powered assistive listening devices (iConnect)
  • Reassurance for parents and educators from the built-in visual diagnostic indicator

NEW WEBSITE RESOURCES

The team at Advanced Bionics has been very busy recently giving the company websites a complete makeover.

www.advancedbionics.com  Our American Corporate website now has a new look, taking people through the stages of LEARNING, CHOOSING, GETTING and LIVING with an implant.  The website features a large number of downloadable product resources and interesting information.

www.bionicear.eu   The European website also has a fresh new feel with an area now completely dedicated to the UK and Eire.  This site is still under construction, but features an events calendar and regularly updated news stories.  Let us know if there’s anything you’d like to add.

www.HearingJourney.com  A new online community website sponsored by Advanced Bionics to help link users together.  The website features a new resource called ‘The Listening Room’ which is full of rehabilitation activities and ideas to support the development of listening and language skills in children.  For example, the ‘activity of the week’ provides a fresh, new rehab’ game every week to use with children.  Adults and teens rehab’ resources coming soon.

The Contact Network – Cochlear Implant users supporting candidates and their families

In collaboration with Advanced Bionics, volunteers have the opportunity to share their first-hand experience of cochlear implants.  They offer support to candidates during the process of getting a cochlear implant and assistance in the challenge of adapting to their new life.

If anyone would like to know more about the Contact Network or be put in touch with a Contact Network volunteer please email: uk@advancedbionics.com
