Nucleus® Freedom™
We currently sell the Nucleus Freedom cochlear implant, which can benefit people who have severe to profound hearing loss in both ears. The sound processor can be worn behind the ear (BTE) or on the body (bodyworn).
The Nucleus Freedom is the next generation in cochlear implant technology and includes our revolutionary SmartSound™ technology that provides better hearing in even more day to day situations.
To accommodate all ages and lifestyles, an innovative modular design allows you to choose and easily switch between a behind the ear speech processor configuration and a bodyworn
option in matter of seconds.
It is also the first splash- and sweat-resistant processor, delivering improved confidence for wet situations.
We also support every generation of Nucleus system with continuous improvements and upgrades. Our first implant system, the Nucleus 22, was released over 20 years ago. Since then, we have released five different generations of technology improvements, each resulting in better hearing and clarity. Today, Nucleus 22 recipients can access many of the same features as someone implanted just recently without additional surgery.
Freedom™ Accessories for Children
Children have distinctive hearing needs. Their daily hearing requirements range from focusing on a teacher talking while other kids chatter to hearing the soft sound of a friend whispering a secret.
Children’s needs also vary at different ages. Young children for example need a hearing solution that suits their small ears and is tamper proof. And children being children, they all need to be able to live an active, fulfilling life. Freedom™ has been designed to meet these and your child’s other hearing needs, now and as they grow. For the best and most comfortable and convenient hearing experience.
Below you will find some highlights of our new children’s accessories:
Nucleus® Babyworn™
- is a safe and comfortable solution for young babies. With the addition of the new Babyworn Cable, the Freedom BTE is instantly converted into a small bodyworn processor. This minimises the components worn behind the ear and keeps the microphone at ear level. It will provide increased confidence and peace of mind for parents and carers and of course there is also the flexibility to convert easily back into a BTE as a child grows.
Snugfit™
- securely holds the earpiece behind a baby’s ear, especially useful for active babies and young children. It’s also simple to adjust for small and delicate ears.
Tamper Proof Battery Holder
- provides improved safety as babies cannot remove the batteries from the BTE controller. There is an easy to use tool for adults to remove batteries which again will bring that all important assurance for parents and carers.
All these accessories are made possible by Nucleus® Freedom’s™ powerfully simple design which adapts perfectly to the needs of babies and toddlers right through to teenagers and adulthood.
