Engaging with children and young people to ensure their views are fed into treatment planning and target setting is key. However, gaining detailed feedback from young children with significant hearing loss can be difficult.

We have evaluated ‘Talking Mats’ resource as a communication tool to see if it can increase the capacity of children with cochlear implant to communicate effectively about things that are important to them around listening, equipment and support.

Join Brogan, Jane and Martin as they:

  • share information on this resource
  • discuss how we have adapted it – creating a cochlear implant symbol set
  • present case studies including an analysis of feedback received
  • explore how this has changed our practice
