Scope of Practice for Audiology Professionals

Scope of Practice for Audiology Professionals

Updated advice from BAA

The British Academy of Audiology has announced the released a new Scope of Practice.  This eagerly-anticipated document has been developed by the BAA Education Portfolio, drawing on the expertise of professionals from a wide range of sectors and specialisms. It will be reviewed every three years and revised as required to reflect developments within audiology.

The Scope of Practice sets out:

  • The clinical and professional capabilities of audiology professionals.
  • Expectations of audiologists in practice.
  • Clear links between career levels and professional capabilities.

Please note, the document is not designed as a guide to Agenda for Change (AfC) bandings or job planning. Instead, it provides a framework to help professionals identify their scope of practice, work within its boundaries, and recognise training and development needs to extend their capabilities where appropriate.

The document is available on the BCIG website (Resources)  and, of course, from the BAA website
