This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated and compassionate multi-disciplinary team at The University of Southampton Auditory Implant Service (USAIS). USAIS is renowned for providing a regional service for severely and profoundly deaf adults, children and young people.

You will be involved in providing a specialist psychology service to adult patients who are either undergoing an assessment to see if they might benefit from a Cochlear Implant, or who have already had their Cochlear Implant operation. The work includes specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy and there are opportunities for individual work, group work, and work with the wider system. Consultation and advice on patient’s psychological care to the wider multi-disciplinary team, as well as liaison with external agencies is also an important aspect of the work.

You will work closely alongside one other Clinical Psychologist who leads the paediatric cochlear implant psychological service at USAIS, and have opportunities to develop the adult service yourself. There are also opportunities to teach on courses run at the University and with partner charities and organisations, as well as to utilise your research skills for audit, policy and service development within USAIS.  You will have a key role in the USAIS safeguarding team.   Attendances at conferences and training courses is encouraged and supported for continuing professional development.

You should be an experienced clinical psychologist with experience in working in the field of disability/health issues.  Experience with D/deaf people is desirable, but your induction will help you gain experience in this field.
