Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Emmeline Centre, a well-established Hearing Implant Service, providing cochlear implants, bone conducting hearing devices, middle ear and auditory brainstem implants for East Anglia. The Centre is purpose-built, located within Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

 

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, developing audiological skills in hearing implants and diagnostic electrophysiological testing. You will work autonomously with responsibility for initial audiological assessments, intra-operative testing, post-operative programming and troubleshooting. You will assist in the management of clinical equipment, IT, training of staff and research.

 

A good grounding in adult and paediatric audiology is expected over a minimum of three years, including MSc in Audiology, STP or equivalent. Experience of different hearing implant devices is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.

 

Main duties of the job

1) The provision of a comprehensive audiology service to adults or paediatrics within the context of the wider department

2) Carry out a range of diagnostic audiological tests

3) Provide comprehensive rehabilitation service to implanted paediatric and adult patients

4) Maintain own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department

5) Use knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff
